David was recently asked for an update from members of his family, so here is his personal summary of treatment received in 2025 and an indication as to the current situation.
At least 51 appointments across 5 different hospitals. 2 procedures with general anaesthetic and 3 with local anaesthetic. 8 scans, 10 days in hospital, 1 month of drain attached to leg, 3 weeks with vacuum pump attached to leg. Lost count of doses of antibiotics and paracetamol and blood tests. Number of times asked for my name and date of birth, estimate greater than 500!
Current Situation. Approx 15 weeks of targeted therapy drugs taken (out of 52). Being monitored by Oncology every 2 months, Dermatologist and Plastic Surgery every 3 months. Having CT Scan of Torso and MRI of head every 3 months. Being treated for mild lymphoedema, with possibility of this being reversed by wearing compression garments 24/7 on my leg for perhaps up to 18 months initially. I have a dent in my left thigh, which may be permanent. Other scars have healed fantastically well. I’m currently recovering from pulled calf muscle in my good leg.
