Frogs & ButterfliesDavid gave me a pond for my birthday so that I can grow my own frogs; don't tell my mother-in-law or she won't visit (on second thoughts...). Only joking, Joyce! Unfortunately he woke two up when he was clearing the plants in preparation (although this one soon found a new hiding place); hopefully they'll be the first residents.
The girls' present to me was a butterfly house and a frog house; I'm going to put them next to my pond and plant the flowers that butterflies enjoy. I'm looking forward to seeing the butterflies again, and I've decided to draw a series of butterfly pictures. I felt a bit disheartened about my drawings this week, and then I realised why: I want to finish them too quickly! I'm used to the immediacy of photography, but I'm going to learn to be patient and think about every stroke of the pencil (and accept that I'll never be completely satisfied with any of my work!). Here is the brown argus, although I haven't drawn him a flower yet, so watch this space!

Sky SportsDavid has now got Sky Sports with two golf tournaments a week, leaving me with concerns about our future together. I explained my marital dilemma in my latest e-mail to my specialist at The Priory, and he advised HD because the sport's more lifelike! MEN! I'll have to find myself a hobby! |
Where's the water gone? The world must be very confusing if you're a duck! You're swimming along with your twin brother, minding your own business, when somebody puts a sheet of ice in your way.
Have you ever seen a duck doing the splits? I have! |
What shall we do today? The animals looked very bored at the zoo this week; I think they need a sports and social club.
Apart from the lion king, who was silhouetted against the sky recovering from activities which I chose not to photograph!

Back to Cheslyn GardensFriday was one of those amazing days, when the sunshine worked its magic and brought the world back to life. Like the zoo, Cheslyn was almost deserted, and yet there was so much to see. It was my first visit of the year, but it certainly won't be my last.
