Animal Support Angels
An appeal for artwork
I would like to introduce you to my three rescue cats. Their names are Dolly, Mabel and Betty. I adopted them from www.animalsupportangels.com, a Hertfordshire-based animal welfare charity. Dolly was abandoned when she became pregnant, and Mabel was left outside a veterinary surgery with her kittens; both were malnourished. Betty joined our household in February, aged 16 weeks, when her previous family gave her up; she has since been diagnosed with IBD following surgery.
To animal-loving celebrities: please draw a picture of your pet for auction at Animal Support Angel’s arts and crafts event, scheduled for October 2026, even if it’s a stick cat or dog!
To artists, crafters and jewellery makers: please donate a piece (or more) of your work for our sale.
All proceeds will go to the Charity.
UK animal charities are facing an unprecedented stray and abandoned cat crisis. Driven by the cost of living and soaring vet fees, rescue centres are overwhelmed, and yet Amanda and her team of volunteers at Animal Support Angels continue to work tirelessly to help prevent suffering despite the heartache. Recent Cats Protection data has estimated that as many as 12% of the UK cat population – around 1.3 million cats – are currently unneutered, which is why neutering programs form an important part of Animal Support Angel’s work. They also help to reduce bird predation.
The rescuing and rehoming of cats is just a part of their work: they also provide national and international support to other rescues and individuals across the UK, and globally to Romania, Cyprus, Cape Verde and Gambia, improving the life of thousands of animals (not just cats).
